Glow For It: C-Green Smoothie

If I had to choose just one of my favorite greens smoothie recipes this would be it! I use the term green 'smoothie' for any blended beverage using fruits and veggies, it doesn't have to contain protein, dairy etc. I consider it a smoothie because blending the veggies (as opposed to juicing them) means you retain all the fiber, giving it a much thicker texture than a juice. This is what makes the 'smoothies' a healthier option than the juices, we all need more fiber in our diets for gut health, satiety, heart health, great skin, and weight loss. The fiber helps to slow down the rise in blood sugar that you would get from drinking just the juice.

Another great tip for veggie smoothies is to use frozen vegetables - they are much cheaper, last longer and give the drink a great texture. Just make sure they are organic.

I'm going to post one green smoothie recipe a week, and the best place to start is with my favorite recipe ever! The secret to this C-Green juice is the whole kiwi fruit (and I mean whole, throw the skin in there too), a powerhouse of skin loving Vitamin C, essential to glowing skin!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1 cup kale
  • 2-3 inches cucumber
  • 1/2 apple
  • 1 kiwi (skin on)
  • Squeeze of lemon juice
  • 2-3 cups of filtered water

Directions

Put all ingredients in a blender / Nutribullet and blend until smooth.
