Cleansing Go-To Green Smoothie Bowl
If you couldn’t guess from the name, we kind of have an affinity for avocados. Spicy avocado dressing, avocado fries, even avocado pie…we’ve tried it all. But one of our favorites—and which we always come back to—is our easy and cleansing Go-To Green Smoothie Bowl.
The thing is, life happens. Meaning that while we love to make new and exciting avocado concoctions, sometimes you have those weeks that call for food-on-the-go. You have three work projects due by tomorrow and the kids have their dance recitals and soccer practices and somehow the pipe in the bathroom decides to burst just at the opportune time. In times like these, it’s easy to go for the preservative-filled energy bar or grab a bag of chips as you’re heading out the door.
Luckily for us, someone somewhere along the course of history brilliantly invented the blender, allowing us to have our cake (or in this case, smoothie) and eat it too. Say hello to our cleansing and oh-so-healthy-for-you Go-To Green Smoothie Bowl. This nutritious drink is packed with vitamins and minerals, making it the ideal drink to keep you fueled and functioning at your best, even during the busiest of weeks. It combines the benefits of Vitamin C-packed orange juice for a healthy immune system, probiotics of yoghurt for a healthy gut, and Vitamins K and A from leafy greens. Throw in some delicious avo for some fiber and creaminess, and this makes our smoothie one for the record books. The best part? It takes a grand total of five minutes to make. Just pop it in your blender, pulse, and voila!—a vitamin-packed punch ready to nourish your body from the inside, out.
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 c packed fresh spinach
- ¼ c orange juice (best if fresh squeezed)
- ¼ c almond milk
- 1 small chunk of fresh ginger, peeled (about a centimeter thick)
- 1/2 small avocado with the pit removed
- 4 oz plain coconut yogurt
- 5 dates with seeds removed
- 2 tbs goji berries
- 1 scoop vanilla vegan protein powder
- 2 tbs shredded dried coconut
- 1 tbs cacao nibs or bee pollen
Place first eight ingredients in a blender and pulse until smooth.
If you’re looking for an extra protein boost to keep you full longer, add some quality whey protein powder and blend well.
Pour into a bowl and top with goji berries, dried coconut, bee pollen and cacao nibs.
