Glow For It: Valentines Chocolate Mousse

As I follow a gluten free and dairy free diet desserts are one of the most challenging dishes for me. I don't advocate dessert as a daily occurrence, but on special occasions it is wonderful to be able to have some delicious options that are also good for your health, and this Avocado and Cacao Mousse definitely fits the bill.

The main ingredients are also thought to have aphrodisiac qualities, so this is perfect for a Valentines Day treat!

Cacao: with more antioxidants than any other food on earth, this superfood contains compounds that prevent wrinkles, protects skin from UV damage and increases the supply of nutrients, blood and oxygen to the skins surface. It contains a compound called theobromine, which the ancient Aztecs regarded as a powerful aphrodisiac!

Avocado: the Aztec word for the avocado tree was 'Ahuacuatl', which roughly translates as 'testicle tree'. It is high in monounsaturated fatty acids, which are essential for a healthy heart.

Raw Honey: rich in Vitamin B which supports both estrogen and testosterone production, hormones that are essential for a healthy libido in both men and women.

Avocado and Cacao Mousse

  • 2 very ripe large avocados or 4 small one
  • 2 tablespoons cacao powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1/2 teaspoon raw honey

Blend all ingredients together either in a blender or by hand, ensuring the avocado is completely smooth. Chill in the freezer for 2 hours before serving.

Sprinkle with toppings of your choice - I used freeze dried raspberries and shredded coconut for extra Valentinesness!

A little cacao goes a long way, my favorite brand is Navitas Naturals:

Happy Valentines Day!
